In the early 1940’s, Mr Percy Smith, a local man, joined forces with George Swearer and continued trading as A. N. Swearer and Son. In 1947 after his demobilisation from the Armed Forces, Mr Douglas Smith joined his father, taking over the funeral side. Following the death of Mr Percy Smith, Douglas then changed the name to Swearers Funeral Service. William Peacock & Sons of Huntingdon, another long established family owned funeral directors, took control following the retirement of Mr Douglas Smith in the 1980’s and continue the same tradition of personal service the people of Ramsey expect and deserve.
